this job is making me bitter and insane, even more so. the air conditioning is currently broken and the thermometer reads 90 degrees in here. i am doing my fair share of complaining (or i would be if anyone stooped to talk to me), but i am also thinking of a story sharon told me last weekend, of working in the light bulb factory in new hampshire. about how she would walk outside into 100 degree humid heat and feel refreshed, compared to the factory. about how there was this machine that generated so much heat that they were only allowed to use it for an hour at a time, taking turns, (i think it was a furnace of some sort) and how one day she'd forgotten to freeze her company-issued ice pack that wrapped around her neck, that was the company's was of ensuring that people didn't die on them. she started using the machine & was seeing black spots & faltering and started screaming for someone to come over and relieve her, and was screaming for five or ten minutes as she started to stumble and get weaker and weaker. finally someone came to relieve her, and literally ten seconds later she fainted on the floor; if they were 20 seconds late she would have fainted right into the furnace. things like that make me enraged and make my heart crumple and make me want to kill, kill, kill. and they make this 90 degree office seem like not such a big deal anymore (altho i am starting to get really dizzy, that might have more to do with my broke-girl diet).

blah, blah, blah. i can't wait to go to strong island next weekend and frolic with the palligators. i can't wait to go home and eat my smushy avocado. i can't wait to go see gravy train!!! tonight. 2003. what a crazy year. so bland yet pleasant, in comparison to unbearable 2002.

friendster is fashionably enthralling. i like it because it gives us reason to tell the people we appreciate why we appreciate them.

i wish i had an interesting anecdote to share, but my horoscope was right--my usual knack for attracting weirdos has faltered this year. HMPH. i kinda miss it. in other news, there are no sodomy laws! AND strom thurmond died! i wonder if it was the shock of a more homo-friendly world that killed him? i guess the pansy division song "breakin' the law" is no longer as relevant as it could be. it's a good song and you hip homos should download it.
